Take Bus 529 (normal white sign) to wong wien yai.
Board the bus under Ratchathewee BTS station in the southbound (MBK direction.
Tell the ticket lady "ROT FAI WONG WIEN YAI"
DO NOT take the 529 with any kind of yellow sign it is expressway service and doesn't stop there.
if 529 doesn't come or the wait is too long you can take Bus 542 but it will stop at wong wien yai traffic circle and you will need to walk around to the left and cross the road at wong wien yai.
Another choice is to take BUS 21 in front of MBK the same side of phaya thai road as chulalongkorn university. buses 529,542 and 21 all pass MBK before arriving at wong wien yai.
if peak hour allow upto 90 minutes for travel. if off peak allow 60 minutes. the traffic in china town area is very slow.

Note: none of the destination signs are in english but the route numbers are. also as long as the bus does not have a red or yellow sign at the front it will go to wong wien yai.

These are the 2 bus services to wong wian yai from surasak BTS station.
Only route 173 is direct to the station. Exit to the southern side of the station and wait a the bus stop under the station. The traffic is likely to be jammed.
Route 149 also goes there but stops in Latya road infront of robinsons shopping centre and you have to walk around to the left for about 300 meters.
I would allow at least 45 mins to do this.
You could take a taxi from Surasak for between 45 and 60 baht. Allow 20 to 30 mins for this.
i am going to visit Bangkok next month, will stay in hotel located at Sukhumvit Soi 13. i saw a boat image on the map (klong san sap), does it mean that a stop is at that place? (somewhere near Donbosco Church) and the next stop should be Nana Nua Pier, i guess.
and is it possible for me to go to Jim Thompson House by boat?
If there is a marked stop on the map its quite likely there is a stop there look for a small steel pier near a road over the klong bridge.
There is no pier for Jim Thompsons House. You could take a BTS to National stadium and walk 15 mins or take bus 508 from sukhumvit road heading westbound and get off after National stadium and cross the road and walk for 10 mins.

Hello! I am heading to Sangkhlaburi this month to go volunteer at a children's home up there. I have figured out that I need to take bus 81 to Kanchanaburi, then transfer there for a connecting bus to Sangkhlaburi:)
My question is what to do with my extra luggage that I do not need to lug all the way up there? Are there lockers at the Southern Bus Terminal? I know some people recommend leaving luggage at a hotel, but I will not be heading back into the city upon my return. So storing it at the bus station would be best if there was such an option. Any ideas?!?!?! Thanks!!

There are direct buses to Sangkhlaburi from Mochit 2 and if I recall correct there are some from southern bus terminal as well. Both Bus terminals have luggage storage its located on the ticketing levels near the toilets.
Always buy your tickets from the bus counter at the bus terminal and not from anyone else outside as they could be fake or for a different bus to what you want.
If you chose a 1st class bus (blue and white colour) you can take your luggage on the bus with you.

Take Bus 205 (partial Aircond) toward Klong Toei and get down At The Kasikorn bank Rama 3 road (soi 73-3) and cross to river side. Then Take Bus 162 (Non Aircon) to Silom Road directly.
You might need to transfer to another bus 77 or 544 or 547 or 76 on Silom road by crossing to the southside of silom road once on silom road if heading to Holiday INN hotel

I am staying in Baiyoke Boutique hotel.
I wanna take f& e to the above two places for a 1 day trip.
can you please recommend me how should i go? by bus or train?
The most interesting way is to take a Nam TOK train from SRTs Thonburi station behind the Sriraj hospital on the western side of the river. Details of how to get there are posted in my bus guide. The train leaves 2 times a day at approximately 7.30am and 12.30pm.
For the Dumoensaduak floating market. The easiest way is to take a bus to new southern bus terminal in thonburi and take a 1st class bus directly to the market at Dumoen Saduak its number is 996 if i recall correctly. It departs from the commuter bus stop to the left side of the terminal on the ground floor and operates every 90 mins all day.
The other way is to take a train from wong wien yai station to maeklong station via mahachai but be sure to take the 5.30am train from wong wien yai. At Maeklong you will need to take a local bus or "truck bus" to the floating market. There are a couple of local routes. These depart from the maeklong bus terminal about 500 meters from the maeklong station.

will be in Bkk in 2 weeks time, and we're planning a trip to samphran elephant grounds cum rose garden. Saw on couple other websites that there are departing buses from Southern Bus Terminal but not mentioned which buses - do you know what are the bus nos and roughly how long the journey is on a Sunday (compared to weekday)?
Take Bus 157 to Om Yai BIG C then take interurban Bus 402 or Intercity Bus 83 in the direction of Nakhon Pathom to the front door of samphran elephant grounds.
You can board Bus 157 at Victory Monument.
Weekdays could take up to 3 hours to get out there

we need some informiation how to get from thonburi train station to airport Suvarnabhumi.
Can you pls help us and can you tell us how much time does it take?
Take Bus 556 from the bus terminal at the airport and get down after the Chao Phaya River Bridge in bangkok (Pink Lao) then take Bus 157 and get down at the corner of Phran Nok road and Itsaraphap road and walk 800 meters north towards thonburi station. There may be a passing truck bus or motorbike taxi to take you into the station from the bus stop.

but if its before Bangna junction then any bus heading south along sukhumvit road. Wait under the BTS station at onnut for buses 2, 25, 511, 508, 544, 132, 46.
