Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak said the 3.45 million ringgit project will involve the construction of track linking Seremban to Gemas. The announcement coincided with the two-day visit of Defence Minister A K Antony. The 100 km long link project comes after IRCON lost a similar offer a few years ago to a local company. In 2003, IRCON was given a letter of intent by the Malaysian government for a project in Northern Malaysia. However, the contract was finally awarded to a local company MMC Gemuda. "One outstanding issue has been resolved, now Malaysia expects greater momentum between the two countries in 2008," officials said after a meeting between Najib and Anthony this morning. |
