The remaining operators of these small minibuses, always getting bad news, have had 5 years the time to replace them. As of today the very last and final of these things should not run anymore.
The last few weeks saw indeed a big reduction in the nr. of them. They are slowly being replaced by orange slightly larger minibuses, running on NGV or -gradually more and more, by brand new shiny Chinese built yellow SUNLONG AC-buses (often at a flat fare of 10 THB).
The very same type of minibus in red is also used on some additonal routes numbered in the 1000=series, like f.e. from the Bang Khae market and in Bang Khen. It remains to be seen if this ban also applies to those.
The last years we also saw pink buses(not new at all, but upgraded and renovated former white private buses) and more of those yellow AC-Chinese buses on various routes. And then the all-white, also chinese, METRObuses, replacing the former purple microbuses.
So time to update the BKK-busscene a little. When I find some more time, I'll try to.
