Do all train stations in Thailand have advanced reservations offices and are they linked by computer? Can I buy a ticket a few days early at Aranyaprathet train station for a  Bangkok to Surat Thani trip., or does this have to be done in Bangkok?  Seems the Bangkok reservations office will be closed when I arrive, that means going back to the Bangkok train station in the moring. I want to avoid this. Also I know the have automated machines but I asume that they are for same or next day travel.

Thank you

Yes you can book SRT rail tickets at any station in Thailand. Also normal ticket windows do have access for advanced bookings on there computers.

The question raised with booking tickets at minor stations is. Can the staff understand enough English to process your booking.

AT some very minor rural commuter stations they may do a phone booking then print the booked ticket instead of directly booking via the computer. This is still ok and is a valid booking and ticket.

I normally book at Talat Phu or Wat Sing station on the Mahachai line as its closer to me than Hualamphong or Bang Sue.
