My rail reservations were goofed up by the travel agency so I'm, for the moment, stranded. I need to get from Bangkok-Sukhothai on 28 Dec 08 in the morning. Is there a 1st class bus that I can take? Can I reserve it before I leave for Thailand on 24 Dec 08?  Question

Thanks!

Paugus

Normally you can book your trains directly at Hualamphong or Bang Sue station in bangkok after you arrive. Travel agent bookings are always risky and much more expensive than direct booking for SRT tickets.

If you cant get a sleeper or aircon 2nd class seat. Try to book a 2nd class non aircon seat on a rapid train. Otherwise risk it and stand in 3rd class.

The Special express DMUs to and from Phitsanulok often have some seats left even on the day but public holidays and Fridays can be full.

SP EXP 9 Depart Bangkok at 8.30am  arrive Phitsanulok at 13.19
SP EXP 3 Depart Bangkok at 10.50am arrive Phitsanulok at 14.06
Ord 201 Depart Bangkok at 9.25am arrive 17.50
Rapid 111 Depart Bangkok at 7.00am arrive Phitsanulok at 14.14.

Yes there are VIP and 1st class buses to Sukhothai. These depart from Mochit 2 bus terminal about 2km north west of Mochit BTS station.

VIP buses depart every 2 hours through out the day. Additonal buses operate to Phitsanulok every 1 hour.

The buses can only be booked from within Thailand at the bus terminal.
